So not sure if you knew this or not but in order to be unemployed you now need an orientation class. What will this consist of? Can I learn a quicker way to scour the want ads, a backdoor code to get into CareerBuilder and make myself look like the best candidate, or maybe we will sit around and tell war stories. I think it is admirable that the state wants to help people out of work find a new job, but unless they are miraculously going to create about 5000 jobs by tomorrow I think myself and a few others may still be out of luck. I really wouldn’t be so frustrated about it but the center is an hour away from my house so I am going to waste my entire meager weekly check on gas.

So when I say I am reality TV junkie, I truly mean it and I am thinking that I should change this blog’s name to The Unemployed Couch Potato that but The Accessorista has such a nice ring to it. (I started this addiction after Sex & the City, Friends and Will & Grace went off the air – what else is there…really.) This season I have been watching The Celebrity Apprentice on and off but in the last few weeks I have caught most episodes. I was a big fan of Khloe Kardashian and Herschel Walker and I have even grown to love Joan Rivers – who would have thought? I usually find her annoying and brash but I think her strong-willed persona and quick wit is nice to see in a woman her age. Her face doesn’t move much but that became less creepy after the third episode. Anyway, I really enjoyed the show when it gave everyday, hard-working, successful people the chance to be involved with a successful company and loved Trace Adkins in the first Celebrity version but Mr. Trump’s decisions have totally turned me off from the show.

I saw the AT&T commercial for Tom’s shoes today and I immediately went to the Internet to check it out. The premise is simple: for every pair of shoes that are bought, another pair of shoes are given to a child without shoes. Some children must work, do chores and sustain their families – and the only mode of transportation available is walking. Unfortunately this children do not have shoes and therefore they are susceptible to infections through their feet. Tom’s is dedicated to giving this kids a glimmer of hope: one pair of shoes at a time.

I like to google The Accessorista just to see if I have gotten any shout outs and to see where I rank in the Googlesphere and much to my surprise last night I find all of my blog content on another website with no back links and a copyright. They were copyrighting my work…really!! Usually I would love the publicity but I am pouring my heart out on here and some douchebag is using it all to their benefit. The worse part is that they have ads running that are specific to MY content. As I frantically searched the website I saw that they were also stealing someone another writer’s content. So being the good blogger that I am, I contacted the other author as well. She has been doing this awhile and told me that it is apparently somewhat common: WTF? If you have nothing to say then why start a website? And by the way how can you have nothing to say? Obviously, I always have something to say so it just baffles me that these people have nothing, but then again if you poach 2000 feeds on 1000 different websites then you can make some money from the ad revenue – which is sad.

Admittedly, if you haven’t heard of the iconic film Grey Gardens, you’ve been living under a rock and are clearly not a fan of Isaac Mizrahi’s. I’ll forgive you, but only if you tune into the premier episode of HBO’s Grey Gardens this Saturday, April 18th. Starring Drew Barrymore, Grey Gardens follows the eccentric lives of Jackie O’s relatives. The film has inspired countless fashion designers and referrences from the original film can be found peppered through countless collections.
