Well as you all know today is my first entire day of unemployment and man does it feel weird! I got up this morning to my usual early morning phone call from my ex-coworker (Lady Loser 2 – she also got laid off yesterday but she has a few more weeks before they cut her free). Not sure why she called me being that she KNEW I was out of work and had every right to sleep in but hey it’s hard to break routine. Now I have looked through the job listings that are meager and uninteresting to say the least, and I am on to channel surfing. Daytime television sucks…don’t get me wrong I love my soaps but they aren’t on for at least 6 more hours so what to do until then?

MAC has the ability to plan for the temperature of the fashion and beauty industry. I’d say that at least one out of every three collections falls so precisely on the pulse of what real girls are really wearing it’s remarkable. I’m pretty sure James Gager, MAC’s Creative Director, has more than a little something to do with it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn and how many other times I’ve resisted the urge to wear pale pink or purple lips ala retro already so early in the season. My point is, the Sugarsweet collection could not have been more perfectly timed. Riding high off the heels of Lavender Whip from Cremesheen and Fashion Mews from Hello Kitty comes a cupcake and frosting-inspired collection.

So I have decided that I am totally psychic right now – get me a 1-800 number STAT. For some reason this morning I woke up and thought, “I could be getting laid off today.” Of course this wasn’t totally unfounded, the economy sucks, I work in the vacation industry and my company’s not really booming right now. I actually told my mom on the phone this morning that I needed to take all of my vacation time soon – just in case. Well I walk into work, half expecting my door code not to work….but it did. Then I go to log into my computer, thinking that it might not let me in, but it did…. So I thought, OK my intuition is off – it’s not the first time. (I.E. the zebra print tanks with tight black spandex pants, friendship bracelets, NKOTB t-shirts.) But then the nail was in the coffin (dun,dun,dun) my bosses who are known for coming in around 9 – 10 were in at 7. Bells and whistles were going off in my head and I knew something was about to happen.

I really want a new handbag right now but I am torn about what direction to go in. I like funky, different, something that people will look at and say, “Where did she find that fabulous bag. I bet it cost a fortune?” But I also have been craving something boho chic, like a straw tote or something that exudes Spring/Summer like a pristine white bag with gold accents. Let’s face it – everyone is tightening their budget these days. Although I’d love to give Mr. Man every bottle of cologne he desires (and that’s A LOT), I simply cannot afford to. When times turn tough, sometimes one must turn to drugstore. The word drugstore has a connotation similar to the words “plus-size”, as if there is something wrong with either. Drugstore products don’t always mean lower quality, as is certainly the case with All American Stetson.

I am a sports girl….let me clarify though a trendy sports girl. I wear slim, fitted, rhinestone encrusted football jerseys and cute smack talking t-shirts with corresponding eye shadows. My two passions are the Carolina Panthers and the UNC Tarheels…and yes I am originally from the great state of North Carolina!! I love the thrill of being in the hunt for the NFL playoffs and I get giddy when Carolina beats Duke every year. I mean hot boys in shorts or tight pants….what girl wouldn’t like sports!!
